B.V.A.C. MEMBERS PARTICIPATE IN DRIVE-IT-DAY
ON SUNDAY 25 APRIL 2010

Eighteen club cars gathered at the High Street Car Park in Galashiels in order to participate in the 2010 Drive-It-Day Run.   The cars ranged from two MG TC's of the 1940s through Rolls-Royces and Bentleys of the 1950s, Triumphs of the 1960s era and Jaguars of the late 1980s.   Members were delighted to welcome Helen Cuthers of Kelso as a new member to the club with her well-presented Renault Dauphine.

The early stages of the run took the participants over Scott's View, high above the River Tweed, where they were joined by several more members all of whom paused to admire one of the most magnificent views in the Scottish Borders, before continuing the tour to Kelso for a coffee and cake stop at the Mayfield Garden Centre.

Following the coffee stop, the cars headed through the pretty village of Stichill before turning onto the A6105 at Gordon towards Earlston.   Then it was through West Morriston and Legerwood before joining the B6362 at Lauder to cross The Lauder Common and head for Stow on the A7.   After a short distance southwards on the main A7, the tour passed through the villages of Clovenfords and Caddonfoot where the scenery is truly wonderful.

The final leg of the run took the cars towards Selkirk and over to Ettrickbridge before rejoining the main A7 heading for the Woll Golf Club at Ashkirk where drivers and passengers enjoyed a well-deserved late lunch.   What a delightful way for members of the Borders Vintage Automobile Club in the Scottish Borders to show their support for the F.B.H.V.C. and long may the Federation continue to serve the interests of all historic vehicles owners by allowing them the freedom to use their vehicles on public roads.
