(Pictures: Dennis De'Athe) Twenty-nine BVAC members and friends gathered at Newtown St. Boswells on the evening of 12th August 2010 to participate in what turned out to be a very pleasant 45-mile scenic tour in the Hownam Valley area of the Scottish Borders. Of the thirteen cars present, the nine older cars ranged from Donald Mann's 1934 Riley Lincock to John Littlewood & Sandra Craig's 1982 Citroën 2CV and the four moderns included Graham Barker's exotic 1996 Mercedes SL 500 and Frank Sharp's 1996 Jaguar Sovereign. Rain threatened at the start, but this soon gave way to bright spells in an otherwise calm and peaceful evening. All the cars completed the tour in a much cleaner condition underneath after splashing through the ford at Hindhope, which fortunately was only four to five inches deep. The tour ended just as daylight was fading at the Buccleuch Arms, St. Boswells, for all to enjoy refreshment and a chat before journeying home. All in all, a very enjoyable club evening made all the more so by the spectacular Borders countryside.
