Meggethead is the name of the summit on the white road passing the Megget Dam and is situated just before the dramatic descent to Talla Linnfoots.   This was the spot chosen to capture images of the cars climbing the gradient on the 2010 Endurance Rally Association's Flying Scotsman Rally as it passed through the Scottish Borders.

The cars had set out from Brooklands on Friday 12th March and headed through Surrey, Hampshire and Berkshire to cross the Thames at Henley.    The lunch stop was at the Buckinghamshire Railway Centre, one of the largest private railway collections and the overnight stop was at the luxurious Belton Woods Hotel near Grantham

After crossing the Humber Bridge, the route was up and over the North Yorks Moors to give spectacular views of deep valleys with fast flowing rivers and waterfalls.   The lunch stop was at the Eden Camp at Malton and the overnight halt at the Redworth Hall Hotel, near Darlington.

The start on the third day was from the National Railway Museum at Shildon and after two short tests the route headed into Teesdale for lunch at Hexham.   Of the 48 cars entered, only 5 had retired by this late stage and to see these cars, ranging from pre-1925 to 1941 in motion, was a sight to behold.

Shown below are a few thumbnail images of the cars.   Click on an image for an enlarged picture.
