We are pleased to announce that for the seventh year running our annual Historic Motoring Extravaganza will be held in the grounds of the magnificent Thirlestane Castle, by Lauder, over the weekend of the 9th and 10th June.   Once again, we will be hosting the Scottish Vintage Vehicle Federation's 'Champion of Champions 2012' competition.

Over 500 cars, motorcycles and commercial vehicles are expected in the "Open" concours classes together with some 300 vehicles gathered at over thirty "Club" stands.   There will be special 50th Anniversary Display Areas for MGBs, Spitfires and Lotus Elans.

Come and see the 1892 Panhard:  Probably your only chance to see the oldest petrol-driven car in Britain, so do take this opportunity to come to the show and acknowledge "The Little Panhard's" 120th anniversary. >> more. . .

We again welcome the Sporting Bears Motor Club who will be putting on Dream Rides in a range of classic and modern sportscars.

Thirlestane Castle stands at Lauder on the A68 trunk road just 28 miles South of Edinburgh and 68 miles North of Newcastle.    On the 10th June, Thirlestane Castle will be open to all attending the show at special reduced charges.

A SPECTACULAR AIR DISPLAY

Jim McTaggart from Edinburgh is guaranteed to thrill with a fantastic aerobatic display in his Starduster Too - G-JIII.

He will start his display with a low fast pass and then climb to start the first manoeuvre: a Barrel Roll followed by a Loop.   Numerous manoeuvres will continue in quick succession before descending to perform Lazy Eights and S Turns.    Jim will signal the end of the display by waggling the plane's wings before departing.

The aeroplane is powered by a 200hp Lycoming engine.   This is a 4-cylinder, horizontally opposed, air-cooled unit, with an inverted fuel and oil system which keeps it powered while flying upside down.

Designed in the 1960s using many ideas from the classic biplanes of the 1930s, but incorporating modern ideas and materials to create a very beautiful aeroplane.
