An Invitation!

Please accept this invitation to participate in the 38th Historic Motoring Extravaganza to be held at Thirlestane Castle, by Lauder, over the weekend of Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th June 2010.

Entry will be FREE and will be accepted on the understanding that all vehicles entered have Third Party Liability Insurance and comply with current Road Traffic Regulations.    The Club reserves the right to deny entry to any vehicle which, in its opinion, is presented in an unacceptable condition.   Entry is also accepted on the understanding that all reasonable effort is made to contact the organisers should you be unable to attend the event.
The closing date for all entries will be Friday 7 May.    No late entries will be accepted.

SATURDAY 5th JUNE - ENTRANTS' SCENIC RUN

A scenic run for entrants, following a Tulip-style Roadbook, through the beautiful Scottish Borders will be held starting at Thirlestane Castle on a circular route.
The run will start at 11-00am and will cover a distance of approximately 70 to 80 miles with a stop for lunch en-route.   The Run will take place under the appropriate MSA regulations.
Due to the Run's ever increasing popularity, we are having to limit the entries to 80 on a first come, first served basis.
Final Instructions will indicate to entrants their success or otherwise.

SUNDAY 6thJUNE - HISTORIC MOTORING EXTRAVAGANZA

The grounds of Thirlestane will be open for entrants from 8-30am.   Exhibitors will be expected to be in their allocated areas before 10-30am as the show will open to the public at 11-00am.   Concours judging of vehicles will start at 11-00am. Staying close to the vehicle until the class has been judged is recommended.
The show will be open to the public from 11-00am to 5-00pm and in accordance with the Health and Safety Plan no vehicle movements will be permitted between these times without specific authorization of the organisers.

SHOWFIELD CAMPING
Camping & Caravanning is being permitted this year on the unserviced showfield on Friday, Saturday & Sunday nights
The charge will be £3-00 per pitch per night and will be payable on arrival.

Trailers will be allowed into the grounds for unloading, but must then be removed to the trailer park no later than 10-30am.   Trailers may not re-enter for loading until the end of the show at 5-00pm.

ENTRY PASSES AND THE NUMBER ALLOCATED TO YOUR EXHIBIT WILL BE POSTED TO YOU BEFORE THE EVENT

CAMPING and CARAVANNING  Special rates apply at Thirlestane Castle Caravan Park for Entrants & Exhibitors:

Price per CARAVAN/MOTORHOME
(2 persons per night) - £10-00   or with electricity hook up -
£11-00  (Extra persons charged £3-50 per night)
There are approximately 54 electricity hook-ups and these will be allocated on a first booked, first served basis.
Awnings are charged at £1-50 per night

Price per TENT (2 persons per night) - £10-00 (Extra persons £3-50 per night). Please note there is no electricity in the tenting area.
Extra cars, other than rally cars, charged at £1-50 per night.

The Class Trophies remain the property of BVAC Ltd. and must be returned by 30th April 2011.
Additional awards, which may be retained, will be made to First, Second and, if sufficient entries, to Third-placed Exhibitors in a Class.


BVAC reserves the right to divide or merge classes where too many or too few entries have been received for a particular class.  Prizes will be awarded at the Committee's discretion.   The Judges' decision is final in all cases.

SPECIAL TROPHIES

A TROPHY for the Best Vehicle in the show, which must be driven into the arena for the final judging.
A LONG-HAUL AWARD for the vehicle driven farthest to the event.
A TROPHY for the Best Exhibit in the Agricultural Display.
A TROPHY for the Best Display by a Visiting Car Club.
A TROPHY for the Best Combination of Vehicle and appropriately dressed driver and passengers.  (Changing facilities will be available)
THE SPIRIT OF THE RALLY TROPHY awarded by our President, Captain The Hon. Gerald Maitland-Carew of Thirlestane Castle to a competitor considered most to be entering the spirit of the event.
